For Medical And Healthcare Professionals

Numerous studies, by both medical institutions and insurers, show that anywhere from 70% to 75% of malpractice suits relate to communication breakdowns between patients and doctors, rather than a lack of technical capability.

Research also shows that health care professionals rate their interactions with people as one of the greatest challenges they face day to day. Anecdotally, we know that for successful health care professionals, the core of their powers of influence is their ability to read people and situations rapidly. It is impossible to respond appropriately and effectively to people if you don’t first accurately understand their message, messages that can be obstructed by conflicting non-verbal indicators or fuelled by unexpected emotions. For Health Care workers the implications associated with misreading a patient and their situation can escalate quickly, and at worst, can be catastrophic.

Our approach to helping healthcare professionals deal with one of the hardest aspects of their work, dealing with people, is based in science not “pop-psychology”. See our current courses, click here. We will be increasing the number of courses we offer soon.

NI GO Online Delivery of Cutting-Edge Professional Development

Reading People

For Medical and Healthcare professionals, the ability to “read” people accurately, can lead to lowering the risk of an incorrect diagnosis. While the suggestion that we “read” people may summon, for some, negative connotations, it simply means that we are better able to understand what may be motivating behaviour that seems incongruent with a situation. The ability to read people means Medical Professionals can have a better chance of getting to the reality of a problem. An ability to read non-verbal pointers, may indicate to a healthcare professional that they are not being told the full story. NI GO does not offer the popular (and often inaccurate) myths around body language and detecting deception, our training is based in Neuropsychology and Science, and transcends differences in gender, age and ethnicity. This is a course that will give those in stressful jobs, Medical and Healthcare professionals, skills they can also use at home for more meaningful interactions with friends and family.

Art and Science of Interview

The ability to be able to Interview effectively is not just the domain of Human Resource Professionals, Journalists and Police Investigators. Successful Interviewing is about gathering the information you need to do your job more effectively. This skill is critical for Medical and Healthcare Professionals who are regularly “interviewing” patients under stressful and time critical conditions. The NI GO Art and Science of Interview gives Medical Professionals an approach for their formal engagement with patients. This approach can be adapted to any situation, whether in Emergency care or for a medical consultation conducted by GPs, Dentists, Physiotherapists, Specialists and other Healthcare providers. NI GO cannot provide Medical Professionals with the questions to ask, but we can show you the way to ask them.
